Day 23 of 27 4-Nov-14 Tuesday - Porto

Today’s Schedule- Post-Tour Wandering around Porto.

My Observations

Today’s photo link is more than 800 pictures I took from when I got up, until we came home to the hotel.  A called it – A Day In The Life. Depending on how well you know me, might not know that a camera is almost always “at the ready” to capture something I find of interest.

Some folks take notes.  Other, tell me they have good, if not great, memories.

I need reminders.  The photos do this.  Yes, some are out of focus – blurry.  Others, you wonder – why did he take that one?  Again, they are visual reminders.  Yes, I occasionally take notes too.  So use several methods – photos, notes and memories.

We had a great time on the 1 hour boat cruise on the river.  A view of the bridges.  Many of them.  Even with the day starting cold and rainy, the weather cooperated and we had sunshine with a resulting warm feeling.

Carol & I planned, even before leaving for the tour, we “needed” to do 2 extra things.  1.  A river cruise.  The one we took was shorter than the one we reviewed.  We realized later the river water lever was lower and the ship locks upstream were closed.  Even the the slightly larger river cruise boats from Viking Cruises were having some navigational difficulties.  Some cruises start in Spain and continue down the Douro river until in the Atlantic Ocean.

Our second special trip, was to go from Porto to Santiago de Compostela.  That is tomorrow’s adventure.

I know, I know – I just am having too much fun  (-:

Photo 2.  A “gut buster” specialty sandwich.  Note the fried egg on top.  I’ve had so many meal with a fried egg on top.  Didn’t matter – breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Photo 3.  Ah, a special drink.  Cherry liquor served in a small cup made of chocolate.  After drinking contents – you eat the remainder.  Not a drop lost!   (-:
